When an American voter called President Trump an “illegitimate president” in front of Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden, he was more than happy to agree with her assessment. However, Biden did not just stop there – he took the accusation one step further claiming that America is “run by Vladimir Putin.” However, Biden quickly changed course and showed the people in attendance at a house party in Nassau, New Hampshire that he was joking when he asked the woman who made a claim against Trump if she would join him as his running mate.
The exchanged occurred at an alleged house party while the former Vice President of the United States decided to take some questions from the massive crowd that had gathered there in an attempt to get a glimpse of the presidential hopeful.
The woman got the chance to speak and led with her feelings about the current president.
“I have a very severe case of what is called Trump derangement syndrome,” she said. The crowd around her swelled with cheers and swoops at the hidden meaning within her words. She then said that she had the microphone more for a “comment than a question,” as she proceeded to criticize Trump and his relationship with Russian president Putin.
“I don’t want to live in a country run by Vladimir Putin. I don’t think anybody in the country should want that,” she said. “He is an illegitimate president in my mind. And my biggest fear is that he’s going to do it again with the help of Vlad, his best pal, and we’re going to be stuck with four more years of him. And that is terrifying. It’s terrifying.”
The woman finished her statement, and Joe Biden jumped at the opportunity to make a human connection and get the crowd laughing.
“Would you be my Vice Presidential candidate?” he asked. The crowd roared with laughter. He then made a clear statement about what he thought about President Trump and his connection to Vladimir Putin.
“Folks look, I absolutely agree, and one of the things we have to get this part straight in my view. In my view, you will never hear me speak ill of another Democratic presidential candidate, and there’s a simple reason for that. We have to be in a position for the Democratic nominee to win.”
Whether or not the American people decide to put Joe Biden up against Trump for the 2020 election has yet to be determined, but Biden seems committed to supporting whoever gets selected to go up against Trump.
“It may disappoint you, but I’m not going to get down in the mud wrestling with him. And I’m not going to stoop to his level. I’m not going to engage in the name calling.”
As the Mueller report continues to shine a light on Russia’s alleged connection the election of Donald Trump to the presidency, Democrats on Capitol Hill want more answers and are looking to throw their weight behind the right candidate for the presidency in 2020.
